Afterglitch

Afterglitch, is definitely a trip! Playing as a spaceman exploring a few visually intoxicating places. Each level experienced has its own little trick, and twist too. (Price is a somewhat high for this one though, i recommend waiting for the price to lower or picking it up during a sale)

[h2] Afterglitch – Beautiful but Hard to Stomach [/h2] [b] TLDR: [/b] Visually striking but painfully slow and frustrating to play. Afterglitch is the kind of game that makes you want to stop and stare. The visuals are stunning, and the environments are otherworldly in a way that few games manage. It is clear a lot of care went into the art and atmosphere, and for a while that carried me. Unfortunately, the gameplay itself feels like the opposite of visionary. Movement is incredibly slow, to the point where just getting from one place to another becomes a chore. Progression often depends on stumbling into invisible triggers or tracking down clones of yourself, which feels more like busywork than exploration. The story might have been compelling, but the constant stop-start rhythm made it hard to stay invested. By the end, the combination of motion sickness and sheer frustration made me quit before finishing. That is not something I do often, but here it felt unavoidable. I wanted to love this game, and there are flashes of brilliance in how it looks and sounds, but the actual act of playing it is not enjoyable. If you are someone who values visuals above all else, and you have a lot of patience, you may still get something out of it. For me, it ended up being an experience I admired from a distance rather than one I could enjoy.

It's a game about finding yourself in a trippy spacesuit; what more do you want? It's more of an "interactive experience" than a game... in 18 minutes of playing it's left an indelible impression, and for that it gets a recommendation. Follow this developer: he has similar ideas, but they are good ones. If you enjoy discovering what the rules are, or feeling like you probably just took way too much acid and now Carl Jung is telling you about your life choices, this is a moment you won't want to miss.
