A Story About My Uncle

I picked up this game in 2018-19 during one of Humble Bundle's free giveaways and left it untouched here for years. Back then, I assumed it was just another small indie title and never looked into it further. Now, almost a decade later, I've finally played through it — and it turned out to be a much more memorable experience than I expected. A Story About My Uncle is a short first-person adventure focused on movement, exploration, and storytelling. The platforming mechanics are simple but satisfying, and the game rarely rushes the player. Most of the time you're free to enjoy the journey, the scenery, and the sense of discovery. What surprised me the most was the atmosphere. The floating islands, mysterious caves, and alien structures create a world that feels both magical and inviting. SPOILER: [spoiler] The story itself is told as a memory from an adult protagonist to his child, which gives the whole adventure the feeling of a bedtime story or a modern fairy tale. [/spoiler] As someone who enjoys exploration and adventure games, I found it easy to connect with the game's themes. Some of the environments, especially the floating islands and fantastical landscapes, reminded me of the sense of wonder found in games like Trine 2 and its expansion. The world constantly encourages curiosity, making exploration feel just as rewarding as progressing the story itself. The game isn't very long, and it's not particularly difficult. If you've had this game sitting in your library for years like I did, it's absolutely worth giving it a chance.
