[i]Not sure what to think about this one. I've played many similar games like "Florence" or "LoveChoice" that I really enjoyed, but "a new life." somehow didn't touch me.[/i] I'm a very sensitive woman in general – I cry while watching movies, playing games, or reading books and am very empathetic, but I was just so unemotional while playing this game. The [u]characters didn't have any kind of depth[/u] and their life story was so fast-forwarded that it was really hard to bond with them. It felt like a story of two generic women with zero unique selling points. One loves music, the other loves drawing and chocolate. That's all I know about them, and for me, that's far too little to build a moving story upon. The game contains [u]7 different endings[/u], and I [u]finished the game including all endings in 50 minutes[/u]. The different endings actually don't differ very much from one another and it's always the same storyline with just slight differences. [spoiler](Two young women falling in love, marrying, living through a pandemic, and one of them dying due to either a virus, or a tumor.)[/spoiler] I highly appreciate when games have a psychological message or try to expand the player's horizons and offer new perspectives, but the only thing I took away from this game is that routine doc checkups are important. It's kind of a nice message, too, but it doesn't live up to the expectations I had when I had visited the store page. The game, for what it is, has a [u]sweet (and probably hand-drawn) art style[/u], but for me, it kinda feels like an "empty" game. I didn't bond with it, I don't have either very positive nor very negative feelings about it; I'm just pretty much indifferent and will probably have forgotten this game in a few days. [b]I can recommend "a new life." to people who search for a quick and low-commitment casual experience, but I personally prefer stories that leave a lasting and deeper impression on me. If there was more variety regarding the endings and more time to get to know both characters, I'd give this game a thumbs up, but as for what it is, I don't recommend it.[/b]
