Brilliant game.
Really fun, really intense, really rewarding. A wonderful puzzle to unpick for yourself through digital annihilation. Incredible, tight design and really scary enemies. Making it through a run feels amazing - if you can do it!!!
I really enjoy this game. I think it fulfills a very unique niche in the roguelike category and the math puzzle aspect of it gives it very high replay value. I rarely get a score higher than 80 across multiple runs because I just enjoy the weirdness of the game - I do want to go harder, but I also just find the game soothing in itself! My favorite thing is when I find a new interaction or corner case of a prog. There are obvious synergies like getting a Poly and a D Bom hooked up together; but there are some weirder ones I've found - Pull/Push and Step to hit multiple enemies on a cell at once; using Undo as a "poor man's Show" for cryptogs hiding around a corner. I've played the game for long enough that I should have found all those, but I haven't. The progs are also all elemental enough, but unique enough, that you can get some really bizarre interactions too (Debug and Pull, a Debug can kill you if you pull someone on top of your cell. Weird stuff like that). In this regard it feels like Binding of Isaac in a nutshell, you don't expect an interaction between certain items until you reroll your D20 60 times on Greed mode and it all happens, and wowza. Anyway, great game. I really like this person's work in general, so I'll be eager to see what's next. Minor bugfix request: the audio "blew out" on my installation a while ago. I really enjoyed all the sounds and the randomly generated soundtrack, but it seems to not work anymore despite reinstalls. I suspect it could be that I use an audio interface but I have no idea. Definitely does not keep me from playing the game though!

868-Hack is brilliant in its simplicity and strategic depth. I watched a few videos and didn't really understand the hype until I played it. And yes, I think it lives up to the hype. You are a smiley face. You run around and activate squares that give you points (your main goal) but run the risk of spawning enemies as well. Some of the enemies can be quite brutal to deal with, but some squares give you active abilities to deal with them. You need one of two resources (sometimes both!) to use them, and thus the analysis paralysis sets in. Do I go for this ability to target all of these enemy types? Do I run the risk of activating 5 enemies to get this point bonus? There's only 8 stages in a run, but by that final stage you are sweating bullets trying to puzzle out how you're going to stop the cyber monsters from swarming you. It works surprisingly well on the steam deck to boot. At the end of a long day when you're brain is all used up, you fire up a game of 868-Hack thinking "ah this will be a nice relaxing experience to cap the night off with" and by level 8 you're in a cold sweat, viruses and daemons breathing down your neck as you try to struggle out the mental calculus of how to get to the exit with only enough energy to run two abilities. You did it. You survived and escaped. But now do you dare push your luck and try to increase your streak?
I played this game for hours on iOS, and I had no idea it was on pc. If you like strategy/puzzle games, this one is a gem. The graphics are simple and charming, and the gameplay is addictive. Make your way across 8 "sectors" (boards), moving in simultaneous turns against enemies with unique properties, and acquiring new abilities as you go. There's luck and skill in equal measure. If that sounds like your jam, give it a try! Also, it plays well on the Steam Deck. Right thumbstick is your mouse pointer to select from menus (rare), and the left moves your avatar on the board. No crashes or issues.
yes!
great game to play

An excellent little indie game. I understand you could spend countless hours perfecting your gameplay - I will not. But good for those people. I had fun for a few hours and don't regret the purchase at all. 3/5
