For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

07GORILLAS by Highway404 is a compact action roguelike that builds its identity around fast runs, chaotic encounters, and a surprising amount of strategic depth hidden beneath a very simple surface. It presents itself as an arena-based survival game where enemies swarm from all directions, but instead of relying purely on reflexes or precise aiming, it shifts the focus toward assembling and managing a squad. This blend of automated combat and player-driven positioning creates a hybrid experience that feels part arcade shooter, part build-focused strategy game. At the center of the gameplay is the idea of constructing a team of gorilla units, each contributing its own attacks and passive traits to the overall performance of the group. The player does not directly control each attack, as units fire automatically, which changes the nature of decision-making. Instead of focusing on moment-to-moment combat inputs, the player is constantly evaluating placement, movement, and long-term composition. This approach makes the game immediately accessible, as there are no complex control schemes to learn, but it also introduces depth through the way units interact with each other. The synergy system is where the game becomes more engaging. Units share traits that can combine into stronger effects when certain conditions are met, encouraging players to think about how their team fits together rather than simply picking the strongest individual options. Building around these combinations creates a sense of progression within each run, as early decisions influence what becomes viable later on. With a wide selection of units and trait combinations available, there is enough variety to support experimentation, and discovering effective builds becomes one of the main sources of satisfaction. Progression during a run follows a familiar roguelike structure. As enemies are defeated, players earn resources that can be used to recruit new units or strengthen existing ones. Repeatedly investing in the same unit unlocks stronger abilities, creating a sense of growth that builds over time. However, unlike many games in the genre, there is no persistent progression system that carries over between runs. Each attempt starts from the same baseline, placing all emphasis on the decisions made during that session. This design keeps the experience focused and avoids long-term grinding, but it may also limit the sense of ongoing advancement for players who prefer unlocking permanent upgrades. The pacing is one of the game’s strongest aspects. Runs are short and escalate quickly, with enemy density increasing at a steady rate. Early stages allow players to establish their team, while later stages push those builds to their limits as the screen fills with enemies and projectiles. The intensity builds in a way that feels natural, and when a well-constructed team begins to overpower the chaos, it creates a strong sense of momentum. At the same time, a poorly optimized build can quickly fall apart under pressure, reinforcing the importance of planning. Replayability is driven by the variety of possible team compositions and the unpredictable nature of each run. Different combinations of units and traits can lead to very different outcomes, encouraging players to experiment with new strategies. The absence of meta-progression means that replay value depends entirely on this variety rather than on unlocking new content over time. For players who enjoy refining builds and adapting to changing situations, this approach works well. For others, it may feel limited once the available options have been explored. Visually, the game adopts a pixel-art style with a playful and slightly chaotic tone. The characters are distinct enough to be recognizable, and the effects-heavy combat adds energy to each encounter. However, as the action intensifies, the screen can become crowded, making it harder to track individual elements. While this fits the game’s fast-paced nature, it can occasionally affect clarity during the most hectic moments. The audio design is functional but understated. Sound effects provide clear feedback for attacks and enemy interactions, but the overall soundscape does not change significantly as the game progresses. It supports the gameplay without adding much in the way of atmosphere or emotional variation, leaving most of the excitement to come from the visual and mechanical intensity. Overall, 07GORILLAS is a focused and effective roguelike that delivers a satisfying mix of action and strategy within a streamlined format. Its strength lies in how it balances simplicity with meaningful decision-making, allowing players to quickly understand the basics while still offering room for experimentation. Its main limitation is the lack of long-term progression and variety beyond its core loop, which can make extended play feel repetitive. For players who enjoy short, high-energy runs and experimenting with different builds, it offers a consistently engaging experience that rewards smart choices and adaptability. For those looking for deeper progression systems or a broader range of content, it may feel somewhat constrained. It succeeds in what it sets out to do, providing a fast, replayable experience that is easy to pick up but still capable of offering moments of depth. Rating: 7/10
